Ronney J.R. Pennington
1939 ~ 2009

Visitation for Reverend Ronney J.R. Pennington will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at New Life Center (4201 Stine Road) on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Washington Colony Cemetery in Fresno on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.

Pastor Ronn passed gently into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, June 10th after a 7 year battle with Parkinson's disease.

Ronn was born to Johnny and Winifred Pennington in Woodlake, CA on March 17, 1939.

He graduated from Exeter High School and completed his Bachelor's Degree at Bethany College in Santa Cruz.

Pastor Ronn was ordained with the Foursquare Church in 1968 and served the Lord faithfully until his health declined in 1999. He pastored Foursquare Churches in Mira Loma, Durham, Santa Rosa, Taft and Bakersfield. Ronn always served in many various community services in the cities he pastored.

In 1994, Ronn completed his Master's in Counseling through LaVerne University and upon completion of his M.S. he worked as a Social Worker for Positive Attitude Foster Family agencies. Even though his title was "Social Worker", he was always a pastor to everyone. Wherever he served, he always had a listening ear and an encouraging word to everyone.

While a student at Bethany College, he met his future wife Doris and they were married on June 17, 1961 in Bakersfield. They would have celebrated 48 years of marriage. Ronn and Doris were blessed with two sons, Ronald and Brian and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Winifred Pennington; brothers, Jimmy Harold, Wayne Thomas and Clifford Allen Pennington as well as many other family members and friends. He is survived by his wife, Doris of Bakersfield; sons, Ronald and wife, Sandy of Vallejo and Brian and wife, Allison of Bishop; grandchildren, Brent, Ashley, Leah, Jana, Emilee and JJ and a host of other family and friends.
