A Memorial Service for Harry Carter will be held on Thursday, May 14, 11:00 a.m. at Daybreak Baptist Church, 5446 Taft Highway. Pastor Larry Dotson will officiate. On the morning of May 8th, Harry Carter left his earthly home for his eternal home with Jesus. Born June 12, 1926, Harry grew up in Yazoo City, Mississippi, the fourth son of seven children. At the age of 20, Harry began his service to his country, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp and later with the National Guard where he was commissioned as First Lieutenant. On February 14, 1959 he married his life partner Carrie Moore. They faithfully served the Lord together for fifty years and Harry served as Deacon to his Church family. Harry leaves a legacy of love; love of God, love of Country, love of family and love of friends. He is survived by his wife, Carrie; sons, Pat and wife Penny, Jeff and wife Janet, David and wife Deeter; daughter Valerie and husband Napoleon; grandchildren, Misty, Shane, Jessica, Jonathan and Nicholas and great- grandchildren Payton and Warren. Also surviving Harry are his brother, John of South Carolina and sisters, June Thomas and Mary Kelly of Mississippi. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary, 2739 Panama Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
