© The Bakersfield Californian Friday, 7 July 2006 Jerry Reno "Pork Chop" Carter A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Lane, on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Jerry died Saturday, July 1, 2006 in Pismo Beach, California from injuries sustained in a tragic accident on the beach. Jerry was employed by Summit Environmental Services as an Environmental Technician. At twenty~seven years old Jerry accomplished what most men only dream of. Jerry married his childhood friend (Paige Stacy), was the father of two beautiful children, Payten 3 and Wyatt 10 months, he loved his job, and had close friends and family around him daily. Jerry was a practical joker, comedian, Olympic champion joke teller and the tournament chairman for his own "Oildale Open" golf tournament held in his honor (birthday) at North Kern Golf Course. Favorite pastimes included, going to the races at Bakersfield Speedway, hosting Texas Hold'Em tournaments every Friday night at his house, riding Quads, slow pitch soft ball, and being wherever his family and friends were. Lifelong best friends Todd Clinton and Chad Bell said that Jerry would help anyone anyway he could, he was everyone's friend. Todd and Chad agreed that Jerry had as much fun being the object of a practical joke as he did playing one of them. Uncle Fernando gave Jerry the nick name "Pork Chop". Jerry's round face and cheeks reminded Fernando of a pair of pork chops, so "Pork Chop" stuck. Jerry is preceded in death by his grandmother, Verna Vincent of Bakersfield and "Grammie" Georgia Stacy also of Bakersfield. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of four years, Paige Carter; daughter, Payten (3 years); son, Wyatt (10 months). He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Carter of Bakersfield; father, Reno and Shelly Carter of Missouri; father and mother~in~law, Bobby and Debbie Stacy of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law, Corey Stacey and fiancée, Heather Harvey of Bakersfield, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close family friends. Pallbearers will be Michael Gregg, Chris Gregg, Patrick Osorio, Chad Bell, Todd Clinton, and Corey Stacy. Honorary Pallbearers are Clyde Cummings and Mike Stiles. We miss and LOVE you "Pork Chop" In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the Wells Fargo Bank at Panama and Wible in the name of "Paige Carter". No visitation is scheduled.
