Fannie Mae [McClinton] Cunningham
1920 ~ 2009

A Memorial Service will be held, Monday July 27, 2009, 6:30 p.m., at Saints Memorial C.O.G.I.C., located at 200 Pacheco Road, Bakersfield, CA.

Mother Fannie Mae Cunningham, will be laid to rest, at a private graveside ceremony at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery.

June 23, 1923, in Coffeeville, Kansas, life began for a baby girl named- "Fannie Mae McClinton". Orra and Paul McClinton were named as the proud parents. Fannie Mae, was the fourth child, born within a family unit of eight. The eldest, was El'nora Magdalene, next came Lillie El'dora, then, Conneutticut, (who lived for only six months). The fifth child was named Blanche, followed by Odella....finally her only brother arrived, Os'cela, better known as "Coke", and her baby sister was called Arra Delores McClinton.

Fannie Mae was educated, in the Oklahoma School System, in Carl, Oklahoma. She also attended school in Arizona and California.

The state of Arizona was the beginning of her Spiritual Life. In Phoenix, at the age of thirteen, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, and was later baptized. In the city of Mesa, Arizona, there she received the Holy Ghost.

April 8, 1940, Fannie Mae was united in Holy matrimony, to Mr. Perris Cunningham, in Quartzsite, Arizona. This union brought forth, "Love and Responsibility", to ten healthy children. James, Billy, Dorothy, Louise, Linda Joann, Raymond Leon, Beverly Ann, Dinah Gail, Perris Jr. and last but not least, Marsha Renee Cunningham. "Blessed is the fruit of thy womb".

In the year of 1974, Larry Owens, her nephew; became her son, after the death of his mother, Mrs. Lillie El'dora Johnson.

In the summer of 1937, Fannie's family moved to Bakersfield, CA.

She placed her membership at 1028 "O" Street, under the Pastorage of Elder Henry Haymond and Elder Horace Douglas. Today that church is known as "Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ", located at 1028 O Street here in Bakersfield, CA. In the year of 1958, with the blessing of her Pastor, Elder W. Caldwell; she became a member of the Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ, located then on the corner of East 19th and Miller Street. Elder Ruben Cephas Meeks Sr. was her shepherd then. Fannie Mae remained a charter member of Saints Memorial C.O.G.I.C. until the Lord called her home July 21, 2009, under the leadership of Dr. E.V.McGee. his sanctuary is now located at 200 Pacheco Road, Bakersfield, CA. Mother Fannie Mae Cunningham served or was yet serving in the following capacities of this church: Pastor's Aide President (approx. 40 years ), Bible Band secretary, member of the Sanctuary choir, Chaplain for the Home and Foreign Mission Department, President of the Daughters of Sarah, and has served faithfully for 37 years as the church mother of the Saints Memorial C.O.G.I.C.

"WE MUST WORK UNTIL THE DAY IS DONE".

Mother Fannie Mae Cunningham leaves to celebrate her home going; her children, James (Marva), Dorothy Edmonds, Louise, Larry (Kim) Owens, Beverly Ann (Edward) Tyler-Hodge, Dinah Gail, Perris Jr. and Marsha Renee. Her siblings, Blanche Clark, Odella Sims, Os'cela McClinton, Arra Fortune and a special daughter-in-law, Mrs. Melba Joyce Cunningham. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, church family and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perris Cunningham Sr., three of her children, Billy Sr., Missionary Linda Joann and Pastor Raymond Leon Cunningham and three of her siblings, El'nora McClinton, Lillie Johnson and Conneutticut McClinton.
