Sears was born on April 20, 1911, in Huron, Arkansas, to Russell and Lulu (Thomason) Pease. She passed away on March 6, 2004, in Lansing, MI, at the age of 92. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd L. Sears, who passed away in 1970. Grace lived most of her life in Bakersfield. She moved to Lansing, MI in 1996 to be near her son, Bob Russell Sears and her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth W. Sears. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Julie Sears Moon and her husband, David Moon; grandson, Michael Russell Sears; sisters, Euva P. Pierce of Walnut Creek, CA and Evelyn P. and husband, Robert Dundon of Dallas, TX and many nieces and nephews. Grace was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Bakersfield for over 50 years. She was in the Chancellor Choir for 30 years, a church Sunday School Teacher, Board of Trustees, President of the U.M.W. and a life member of U.M.W. She was a member of the Key Notes (also known as Mother Singers), active with Cub Scouts, and a volunteer at Community House and the YMCA. Services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd., Tuesday, March 16, at 1:30 p.m. with her nephew, Rev. Jay K. Pierce from the Central Untied Methodist Church in Sacramento officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: First United Methodist Church, 4600 Stockdale Hwy., Bakersfield, CA 93309 or Ingham Hospice, 825 E.
