© The Bakersfield Californian Friday, 7 September 2007 Eileen Hunt God loaned us an angel to experience the true meaning of love and kindness. He has now taken her back. Eileen Hunt, the beloved wife of Steven Hunt lost her battle with cancer on September 4, 2007, in Bakersfield, CA. Eileen was born on May 30, 1952 in Irvine, Scotland. She lived there with her parents Joseph Hanvey and June Caithness as well as her brother, Bill and sisters, Judy and Cathy. The family moved to Edwards Airforce Base in 1960 where she continued her education but later moved to Bakersfield. Eileen graduated from West High School. While attending Bakersfield College she met and later married her husband of 31 years, Steve. Eileen loved to fish. Her first date with her husband was fishing and camping. Over the years they enjoyed fishing around the world together. Her favorite fishing spots included Alaska, Mexico, and of course their home in Shaver Lake. Always the one to catch the most, or the biggest fish, she would usually surprise the rest of the group with her abilities. Eileen was always up for an adventure and didn't hesitate moving to Indonesia with her husband and daughter in the early 1980's. They had many wonderful experiences together including the birth of their second child, Erik. After seven years in Indonesia the family moved back to Bakersfield, where they all worked together in the family businesses. Eileen has always been a hard worker, the first to start the job and always the last to leave it. She really loved the years she spent working at Schlotzsky's Deli as an owner, and then later working with her husband and other family members at their almond processing plant. Eileen was truly a special lady and if you had the honor of knowing her for five minutes or fifty years you would know just how powerful love could be. Eileen is survived by her husband, Steve; both parents; her sisters, Judy and husband, Bill, Cathy and husband, Chuck; and brother, Bill and wife, Jean; her daughter, Alicia and husband, Tony; and her son, Erik. Eileen also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends and other family members. We would like to give special thanks to the entire staff at USC, they not only maintained pure professionalism but they are the most kind and gentle group any patient or family could ask for. Thank you to Dr. Komin, he was there for us in the beginning and then again at the end. Thank you to Optimal Hospice and to Hillcrest Memorial for all their services. Finally thank you to all of our friends and family, you have been very supportive and loving during this hard time. Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Eileen Hunt May 30, 1952 - Sept. 4, 2007 Legacy.com
