Leona Grace Creasy, 90, died July 20, 2007.
She was raised in Gustine, CA, by her parents, Grace and Harry Forrest and spent most of her life in Bakersfield, after graduating from San Jose State with a Music major.
Leona's first job was as the band leader at Lincoln Junior High. She gave music lessons, and she had a marimba band that played for the firefalls at Yosemite and was even on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour!
After many years as a teacher, she became the principal/superintendent of General Shafter School District, with its mostly Hispanic population.
She became fluent in Spanish and the guitar during a summer in Guadalajara. Leona relished her many wonderful trips.
She enjoyed the companionship of her dogs and cats, and the good times with friends and family, at her home on the beach in Baja and later at her cabin at Pine Mt. Club.
Upon retirement, she became a trophy~winning golfer for many years, traveling with golf buddies to far~flung courses.
Several years ago, Leona moved to Arroyo Grande to be near her two sons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harry; her husband, Bob; and her older son, David Rundstrom.
She is survived by her son, Darrel Rundstrom and his wife, Linda who appreciate the loving care she received at Hillside Villa.
She was a dynamic woman who will not be forgotten. No services will be held.
