© The Bakersfield Californian Thursday, 17 January 2008 Carolyn Jane [Jenkins] Knox Carolyn "Janie" Jenkins was born June 19, 1938 in Bearden, OK and raised in Shafter, CA. In 1957, Carolyn married the love of her life, Glenn Emory Knox and they made their home in Bakersfield, CA. Carolyn was a life~long member of the Church of Christ and a devoted servant of God. She was pure of heart; a shining, loving spirit to all who knew her. Carolyn was known for her wonderful gift of storytelling, her laughter and her cooking. Babies were her specialty and at one time she was a foster mom to newborn babies. She was also an adopted mom and granny to many of her daughters' friends and their children. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she made each of them feel special. She is survived by four daughters, Melanie Lara and son~in~law George of Bakersfield, CA; Lorri Craig and son~in~law Mark of Stockton, CA; Terri Tuttle of Bakersfield, CA; Tammi Miller and son~in~law Trema of Bakersfield, CA; 13 grandchildren: Brandon Craig, Sarah Ramage, Amanda Valenzuela, Amy Tidwell, Kayla Chapman, Kalena Bias, Tori Miller, Taylor Craig, Tara Miller, Courtney Craig, Tawni Miller, Talee Miller and Nicholas Lara; 4 great grandchildren: Kaylee, Emery, Madison and Kaleb and another great grandson on the way; brother and sister~in~law, Ray and Donna Jenkins of Fresno, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be met in heaven by her husband, Glenn; parents, Marvin and Ira Jenkins; sisters, Vanila Hendrix and Violet Hendrix; brother, Clay Jenkins and grandson Wayne Emory. The family would like to express their thanks to Carolyn's sister~in~law, Rose Jenkins Smith for her love and support. Please join us for graveside services at Shafter Cemetery on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. Mom; You taught us to love the Lord, to be good mommies and how to live with a song in your heart.
