© Tehachapi News Monday, 24 September 2007 Ronald Dominick Ronald Dominick was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Monterey Park to Raymond Dominick and Francis Grace O'Dell Dominick. He left Sept. 14, 2007, after declining health at the home of Jan Dominick, (his former wife) and granddaughter Brittany Dominick by his side. Ron was educated in California. He served the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Knapp 653, a Destroyer during the Korean War, earning an honorable discharge. His international career began conducting water purifying while working for Holmes & Narver on several Pacific Islands where they tested atomic bombs. During 1966 - 1975 Ron represented Bio Systems as Operations Manager manufacturer of artificial kidney machines. He introduced new medical systems requiring government approval. In addition, he supervised installation throughout the U.S., Central Europe, Middle East and the Far East. In the late 1980s, Ron was a Vice President, General Manager for Kushaw Corporation, a sports competitive handicap wheelchair manufacturing company for athletic customers. Overall, Ron's career took him into 53 countries. In 1966 he moved from the valley to Tehachapi to be closer to family. Ron was an animal rescuer activist, an avid reader which included most subjects; science, history and current affairs. He liked and would tune in to all forms of music via CDs and FM radio, except hard rock. He enjoyed consistently playing the weekly Lotto and hoped to win and eventually help the Tehachapi Humane Society with a generous donation. Although Ron considered himself "not outgoing or a social person," our friends knew him to be delightful, having a kind and considerate manner. Ron was a very polite, cultured gentleman, interesting and quick-witted. Having a warm heart, he proudly saved and displayed sentimental pictures and personal keepsakes in his home. Ron is survived by his son, Nelson Dominick, of San Fernando Valley; granddaughters Brittany, of Tehachapi, and Harmony Durst, of Carlsbad; nephew Paul Dominick, of Orange County; and former wife/best friend Janet Dominick, of Tehachapi. Wood Family Funeral Service managed the arrangements, followed by entombment at Tehachapi Municipal Cemetery. Ron's family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to the Tehachapi Humane Society for feral cats. Ronald Dominick, Oct. 16, 1933 ~ Sept. 14, 2007
