John P. Kern
1914- 2007

John Kern, 92, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2007 in Stockton, California.

John is survived by children, Theodore Scott Kern and Tamara Jean Shanholtzer; grandchildren Heather and Timothy Kern and Mia and Ty Shanholtzer.

John was born in Freeburg, Mo. where he became fascinated by airplanes at a young age and became a pilot in his teens. He enjoyed flying his own plane until an accident prior to WWII, which prevented him from flying during the war.

John loved hunting and fishing with his children, family and friends in his old Chevy. Every summer was spent boating and water skiing, creating fond memories for everyone.

John was a hard worker and enjoyed using his hands. He even built his own home in Tehachapi in 1947 using lumber from a Japanese camp. John lived in his beloved home until 2000, puttering in his work shed, making go-carts for his children, working on cars and carpentry.

John loved spending time with his grandchildren and being involved in their lives. He especially loved Halloween and visiting with the costumed neighborhood children. John will be dearly missed by his loving family.

A memorial service for John will be held at a later date.

A memorial service for John P. Kern will be held Sunday, May 20 at 3 p.m., at the Tehachapi Public Cemetery East Side. Reverend Ted Kern will be officiating with a reception to follow.
