© Tehachapi News A vigil service was held Wednesday, May 2, and the Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Thursday, May 3, at St. Malachy Catholic Church for long-time Tehachapi resident Mary Ramirez, 94, who passed away quietly at her home. Mary was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, on Sept. 26, 1912. She married Francisco Ramirez on May 10, 1936, in Mexico. They moved to the United States in 1933, settling in Kern County in 1942. Mrs. Ramirez worked for Tehachapi Hospital in the Housekeeping Department for 25 years. She enjoyed taking care of her home, loved her garden and flowers, and was an excellent cook. Mary's heart was to help others. She had a warm smile, kind words for everyone and would wave to friends and strangers alike. No matter how she was feeling, no matter what the circumstance, she would always say, "I'm O.K.!" Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her sons, Albert Ramirez and Henry Ramirez, both of Tehachapi, John Ramirez, of Texas, and Frank Ramirez, Jr., of Colorado; daughters Mary Moeder, of Bakersfield, and Norma Paez, of Benicia, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco, in 1987; son Ruben Ramirez and brother, John Dominguez. Following the services at St. Malachy, internment took place at Tehachapi Public Cemetery-Westside. Father Joel Davadilla officiated the services. Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. handled the arrangements. Maria "Mary" Ramirez, September 26, 1912 ~ April 27, 2007
