Joseph Raymond "Joe" Tomasko
1941 - 2007

Joseph Raymond Tomasko, 65, passed away September 2, 2007, in Los Angeles following a lengthy illness.

Services will be held Tuesday, September 11th, at 11:00 a.m., at Tehachapi's Church of the Nazarene.

Interment will be at Tehachapi Public Cemetery-Eastside following the service at the church. Pastor Jerry Powers will officiate the services. Also participating will be the California Highway Patrol and the United States Navy Honor Guards.

Joe was born December 4, 1941 to parents, Joseph and Eleanor Tomasko, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He married Darlene Frances Tomasko on September 14, 1963, in Las Vegas, Nevada and they have spent 42 years in Kern County.

Joe served in the United States Navy before becoming a California Highway Patrolman.

Mr. Tomasko was very active in the community. He was a member of both the Tehachapi Elks and Moose Lodges, serving as Governor of the Moose Lodge for two years. Joe coached two years of Pop Warner Football with the Tehachapi Youth Football League, seven years with Tehachapi Little League, (vice-president for two years), and was a proud 15 year member of the Chain Gang for the Tehachapi Warriors Senior League.

Joe is survived by his wife, Darlene of Tehachapi; sons, James and Michelle Tomasko and Raymond and Lori Tomasko, all of Tehachapi; sisters, Alice and Lloyd Hide, Terry and Rich Simons, Linda and Bruce Wagner; and brother, Pat and Ruth Breen, all of Minnesota; brother-in-law, Vern and Shirley Hughes of Selma; and grandchildren, Ryan and Ty Tomasko and Justin and Daniell Vance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eleanor Tomasko; and his in-laws, LaVon and Eva Hughes.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Tehachapi Warrior Football Booster Club Senior League, P.O. Box 1254, Tehachapi, CA 93581.
