© The Bakersfield Californian Wednesday, 17 October 2007 Betty Jane Dixon Beasley Betty was born in Haskell County, Oklahoma, and lived there until her family moved to Wasco, CA in 1937. In 1952, she moved to Bakersfield with her husband Cecil. In 1970, she returned to Oklahoma for the first time since she left at the age of nine. On her first night back in town, a tornado touched down about three miles from where she was staying. Betty said she would rather take an earthquake any day. Betty was a long-time member of the VFW Post 6601 Auxiliary, where she held the office of president over the local post and the states 9th district. Betty spent her entire working career in the retail industry, where she last was employed at Floyds in the clothing department. She also worked many hours for the veterans of Kern County. Betty is preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Dixon and Raymond Beasley; and son, Reese A. Dixon. Left to cherish her golden memories are her sons, Roger and wife, Maryetta and Rodney and wife, Victoria, all of Bakersfield; four grandchildren and eight great-grandkids; brothers, Chester Rogers of Bakersfield and Nemo Rogers of Lancaster. The family would like to thank Beverly Manor for the great care and quality of life mom has received for the pass three years. Visitation services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2007, from 2:00 ~ 8:00 p.m., at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd. Funeral services will he held at 11:30 a.m., at Coronado Baptist Church, 516 Norris Rd.
