Gordo is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ramiro and Carmen Hernandez Sr.; grandmother, Rosalinda Galvan; great-grandparents, Martina Castillo and Jose and Albina Rodriguez. He is survived by his parents, Ramiro and Rachel Hernandez Jr.; twin brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Jessica Hernandez; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Beljica Chavira; brother and sister-in-law, Jeremy Hernandez and Andrea Martinez; sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Tommy Reyes; sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Omar Sanchez; grandfather, Joe Galvan; best friend, Eric Barthelmes as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and Marine Corps comrades. Gordo was a person who loved being around his family and friends. If you were around Gordo and didn't know him for sure you would like his company and you would always have him as your friend. He was a protector and would stop confrontations if he could. He loved sports, football, wrestling, as he played all through school. He was an Explorer for the Sheriff Dept. and loved doing ride alongs with some of the Sheriff Deputy's. He got close to Sheriff Trevino and looked up to him and said that someday he would be a Sheriff like him. He was in the Pal program and looked up to a lot of officers that he would talk with at Bakersfield Police Dept. He looked up to his wrestling coaches, D. East, L. Morgan and L. Vasquez. He loved his teachers and always had good things to say about them. He loved joking around, always playing. In his spare time he always made time for wake boarding, doing tricks at the lake. He always said if you're going to do something, it needed to be done right. Always wanted to be a leader and not a follower. He was a Squad Leader in boot camp and during his training at Camp Pendleton. He never thought that he was better than anyone. He always made sure that you were enjoying yourself- he loved girls and girls loved him. Ramiro Hernandez III "Gordo", June 21, 1983 - Aug. 20, 2007 Basham Funeral Care Legacy.com
