© The Bakersfield Californian Thursday, 8 November 2007 Rachel Level A funeral service has been scheduled for Saturday, November 10, 2007, 1:00 p.m., at Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Wasco with interment following at Wasco Memorial Park for Rachel Level, 75, of Wasco who passed away November 2, 2007. Visitation will be Friday, from 2-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Rachel was born September 15, 1932 in Texarkana, Texas, the third child born to Alice Cole and Charlie Norris. In the early 50s her family moved to California where she attended McFarland elementary schools until finally settling in Wasco. Rachel married Tommie Kelley Jr. when she was 19 and they had five children. Then in 1980 she married the man of all our dreams, Bob Level. They were married 27 years, through health and sickness, creating a home for her children. Rachel was a religious person, and was a Jehovah's Witness. She was hospitable on all occasions, never turning down anyone. In the 70s Rachel went to work for Wasco's Head Start and retired after 17 years of service. Rachel loved people and most, if not all, were welcomed to her home ~ and her kitchen, but you must, and I mean must, wash your hands before fixing your plate. Rachel is survived by her five children, Jean Evelyn Kelley Brooks and her husband, Melvin Brooks, Jr., Charlotte Jane Kelley Fambrough, Virgil Kelley, Tommie Bernard Kelley and Alonzo Joseph Kelley; and one sister, Annie Alexander Tillman, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members. Rachel was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Tommie Lee Julius Garvin. The family would like to give a special thanks to San Joaquin Hospital Hospice and to the Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center.
