Donald Turner, Sr.
1923 - 2007

Visitation begins today from 1to 6 p.m. with an hour of meditation from 6~7 p.m. in the Chapel of Rucker's Mortuary, 301 Baker Street. Services for Donald Turner, Sr. will be held on Friday, December 22nd, at 1:00 p.m., at Vessels of Honor, 225 Chester Ave., Bakersfield, CA; and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 23rd, at 1:00 p.m., at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3900 South Workman Mill Dr., Whittier, CA.

Donald was born in Pasadena, CA to Clayburn and Sarah Jane Turner.

He attended Washington Jr. High School prior to enlisting in the United States Navy.

He worked for the Department of Water and Power Co. in Pasadena for 17 years and transferred to Bakersfield to work for the California State Department of Water Resources where he was employed for 36 years until he retired in 1994.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Clayburn and Sarah Jane Turner and 2 sisters, Dorothy Washington and Delores Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and faithful wife of 55 years, Velma Turner; 4 sons, Alan, Phillip (Lisa) and Donald Turner, Jr. (Antoinette), all of Bakersfield, CA and Steven Turner (Evelyn) of Beaumont, TX; 1 sister, Darlene Turner of Fontana, CA; 8 grandchildren, Lanya, Porchia, Aris, Jessica, Nicole, Ashley, Isaiah and Jason; 4 great grandchildren, Kashmyn, Kaleb, Olivia and Noel; 2 nephews, Byron Turner and Douglas Turner; many other cousins, aunts, uncles and loving, caring friends.
