1925 - 2007

Visitation for Gloria Leona Garica will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street Bakersfield, CA) on Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church (7100 Stockdale Hwy., Bakersfield, CA) on Friday afternoon, October 12, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Santa Margarita Cemetery in Santa Margarita, CA, on Saturday, October 13, 2007.

Gloria, 82, was born September 23, 1925 in South Dakota and she passed away October 9, 2007 in Bakersfield, California.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Delmar Leonard Garcia Sr. in May of 2007; her parents, Louis and Susan Mack and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Jeff Smith; daughter, Sherryl Garcia; daughter, Catherine Garcia and Reg Cousineau; son and daughter-in-law, Del and Kellie Garcia; brother, Louis Mack; sisters, Ramona Nelson, Margie Brennan, Angela Grant and Shirley Klein; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Gloria was devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking for them.

She was famous for her tacos and cinnamon knots. Gloria opened the first beauty shop in Eagle Butte, South Dakota in 1958.

Gloria had a great deal of faith and was a member of the Altar Society of St. Williams Catholic Church in Atascadero, California. She enjoyed volunteering at Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo for ten years.

Gloria befriended many people and was especially compassionate to those in need. She was admired for her sensitivity and graciousness.
