Mrs. Flora Wessinger, 86, of Carrollton, died Feb. 19, 1991.
She was born in Cleburne Co. Ala., June 1, 1904, daughter of the late Walter Lee Venable and Nancy Perry Venable. She had lived in Carroll County most of her life. Mrs. Wessinger was a retired yarn mill employee and a member of the West View Church of God.
On June 26, 1922, she was married to James Wallace (J.W.) Wessinger, who died Oct. 1, 1977. Two children preceded her in death, James and Frances.
Survivors include three daughters, Wilma Walker of Carrollton, Mary Lou Collins of Greensboro, N.C., and Ruth Whitley of Lawrenceville; tow sons, L.W. Wessinger and Charles Wessinger of Douglasville; 18 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Nannie Lee Jacobs of Carrollton.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the West View Church of God on the Bowdon Road with Rev. Lee Lee Roy Messer officiating, assisted by the Revs. Donald Lee and Otis L. Hansard. Music will be by Newt and Louise Holmes and the church choir. Pallbearers will be Tommy Wessinger, Rodney Wessinger, Mike Whitley, Anthony Walker, Cecil Davis and James Brown. Interment in the Tyus Cemetery.
